A craft beer lover's guide to the 280+ best breweries in Boston and all of New England

With this many Boston breweries to sort through, let alone all of the other cities and states, it’s hard to establish a beer ranking system and determine which brewery is the best. In fact, that is beyond the scope of the brewery list below.

While it would be fun to categorize the top ten beers by state or best IPA, we just don’t have the time. I mean, we don’t even have the time to figure out which Framingham, MA brewery is the best (I say Springdale, Pants says Exhibit A).

How many breweries are in Boston?

At least a dozen. And, that doesn’t include the breweries that aren’t in Boston proper, those found in Cambridge, Somerville, Everett, etc. When you add them into the mix, it’s not hard to see the Boston craft beer drinking explosion.

What other states should I visit for good craft beer?

New Hampshire breweries hold a special place in our heart, as we enjoy not only the fine scenery, but the abundant recreation as well.

Lakes Region Breweries (NH)

If you find yourself strolling around the Granite State with some free state and a thirst to quench, you should check out The Lakes Region craft beer scene. Burnt Timber Brewing is an excellent stop on the east side of Lake Winnipesaukee, while Kettlehead, Shacketts, and White Mountain Brewing are worthwhile on the west.
